As the season started for the first Valorant season in org history, KIG felt the first game jitters. With seven roster spots KIG had 6 players last night. The first map that the team faced was Bind. Bind is more of a smaller map with tighter rotations. In a game like VALORANT, much like its spiritual predecessor CS:GO, the battle of attack vs. defense usually favors the defensive side. Sites, in general, are easier to hold than they are to attack, as attacking generally requires more coordination between teammates.

Bind’s ‘unique’ feature is that it doesn’t contain a mid section, instead having two one-way teleporters. One takes players from A Short to B Short and the other takes players from B Long to A Lobby.
Players use teleporters by walking into the section of wall taken up by the teleport entrance. They will then instantly arrive in a small exit room which players leave by walking towards the door out of the room. This door is closed by default and can only be opened by players inside the exit room walking up to it, at which point they will open automatically. Players outside the exit room cannot open these doors, but they can be penetrated by gunfire.
KIG lost the first round but rallied back to make the score 1-1. However, Zen went on a huge run and rallied to 7-1 within 15 min. Many of the reasons the run was so efficient was the loss of 1v1 gun fights and Zen playmaking skills as a team. With their back against the wall the next 8 rounds went into KIG’s favor, going 6-2, making the final score, 13-7.

The second game went almost exactly the same. However, this time they played on Fracture a different map with different strategies. KIG’s NOIR was the Player of the match, with a .88 KD and 31 overall kills. Triamphay played Sage the medic of the team. Her and Noir dished out 11 assits for the match. Our captain, Conrad pushed site and gave valuable intel. Usually trading in a death he provided 8 first bloods.
“First match in #KIGVal history wasn’t a win but it was a learning experience. Once we calmed down we were able to go on successful runs and get some good plays in.” -Th3ree Co-Captain
